About Storms River Mouth Rest Camp Garden Route SANParks

Where the booming breakers of the Indian Ocean relentlessly pound rocky shores, where temperate high forest and fynbos roll down to the sea in an unspoilt verdant carpet, where ancient rivers carve their paths to the ocean down rocky ravines. This, "the place of much water", is the Tsitsikamma National Park. The heartland of the park stretches some 5 km to sea, protecting a wonderland of inter-tidal life, reef and deep-sea fish.

Dolphins frolic in the breakers, surfing and playing for the sheer joy of life, and the gentle giant of the ocean, the southern right whale visits here, coming inshore to breed. Nature has blessed the Garden Route National Park (Tsitsikamma, Knysna and Wilderness Sections) with a pleasant, temperate climate; it is unique in Africa as the only area in which rainfall occurs throughout the year. And, to cap it all, most of our rain falls at night! It's the ideal climate for a visit - at any time of the year!

There is a variety of fun and adventurous actvities as well as excellent facilities available at the Garden Route National Park ranging from hiking trails, nature walks and much more.

This was a great location and we were awed by the view from the campsite. The walks were amazing. Unfortunately we were forced to leave early as to the COVID19 Lockdown. Some points in the campsite that could be a bit frustrating were the lack of enough electrical points. They were few and far apart. The taps available were also very scanty and it really be a problem in full season when the sites are all occupied.

SANParks need to urgently address the hazard of the marauding baboons in the camp as we had the unfortunate experience of a huge male baboon intruding our chalet while we were sitting and reading. Culling is not a inhumane option from a safety perspective. There are so many children and lots of foot traffic around at this park and this causes a serious threat to their safety.

Beautiful and the most friendly staff at reception. I need to favor 1 lady., Thuli. She gave us outstanding service without any hesitation. She helped us even obtain a Wildcard. That was fantastic service.
