A rustic yet comfortably renovated farmhouse fully-equipped for self-catering parties of up to 10 people, as well as 3 campsites are available, situated on the private NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Enjoy spectacular views over the vast plains and ancient blue mountain ranges, set out on foot or by 4x4 into the glowing red dunes for a close encounter with the fascinating variety of Namib Desert fauna and flora.
The kids will love the dune-boarding and endless open spaces, or chasing after beetles and lizards scuttling over the sand dunes. A small water-hole just 20m from the verandah attracts a myriad of birdlife as well as Oryx, springbok, bat-eared fox, porcupines and other wildlife. The exceptional surroundings and clarity of the air provide endless opportunities for photography by day and star-gazing by night.
The Hideout is accessible in a normal vehicle. There is also an airstrip less than 5 km away pick-ups can be arranged. As the sole occupier of this rustic and historic farmhouse, you will be able to spend quality time alone with your family and friends.
The house is simply yet comfortably equipped for your essential needs, a solid and safe haven from the sometimes harsh desert conditions. Evidence of bygone farming days still remains in the old walls, fences and outbuildings, almost buried by ever-shifting sand dunes. Slow down, leave the stress and pace of our high-tech world behind you for a while and relax around an open fire in the silence of the multi-colored sunset, punctuated only by the click of barking geckos.
Here in the vast and ancient Namib Desert, nature still reigns supreme. You may be comforted to know that a portion of your overnight costs goes towards the conservation of this unique and fragile environment. Our Eco-friendly house has solar lights, a solar fridge, freezer and gas stove and barbeque facilities. The expansive verandah provides ample shaded space for alfresco dining and living.
The house is also fully wheelchair-accessible. The pure water running in the modern bathroom and kitchen facilities is pumped from far below the desert’s surface.
Three private and exclusive shaded campsites for up to eight people each, set in the dunes out of sight and earshot of each other and of the house. Magnificent views, en-suite bathrooms, flush toilet, hot shower, solar lighting, wash-up and barbeque facilities, as well as own waterhole for wildlife viewing.
Water is heated for the showers using a Solahart solar hot water system. Please remember to bring firewood for your barbecue as no wood may be gathered on the Reserve. For the house, bedding and towels are available as an optional extra by prior arrangement only; otherwise please bring your own. Further optional extras are guided drives though the dunes in our comfortable 4x4 vehicle, educational walks with our qualified guide, fat bike hire and guided or unguided dune boarding.

The latest renovations works very well! The larger kitchen and additional bathroom adds a lot of value and comfort. We stayed for 3 nights (too short unfortunately) and were 3 families. This is our favorite place in Namibia and probably one of our top 5 destinations of all the places we have ever visited! The only negative is the flatlet (out side room). This is not up to standard and needs a lot...

This place is magic! I don't think I've ever been at such a beautiful place. The house is very cosy and the surroundings are absolutely amazing! We enjoyed a herd of oryx during the sunset right in front of the terrace. For breakfast, there were oryxes, Burchell's zebra, ostriches, springbok and many different birds at the waterhole right in front of us. It was fantastic! We also enjoyed our priva...
