The warm waters are safe to swim in and the wide open, sun-drenched beaches offer endless hours of strolling pleasure. Out to sea, the nearby reef is home to hundreds of fish species including the manta ray and the whale shark. Fishing and diving enthusiasts may hire boats from Barra charters or the nearby Tofo village, while surfers share the surf with bottlenose dolphins at Tofo. For shopping, you can visit the nearby town of Inhambane where there are some excellent but fairly basic shops, as well as a good number of cafés and restaurants. Also available at Bar Babelaas 7km from Barra is a butchery, chemist and Save More Spar where you can get your groceries.

This is a truly excellent destination in which to relax and get away from the bustle of city life.
