About Agalia

Agalia is situated in Cradock which lies on the banks of the Great Fish River, on the site of what was intended as a Boer fort to contain the Xhosa people who competed for grazing grounds for their cattle in this part of the Cape.

We have one Luxury Suite with a big bedroom offering a double bed and an en-suite bathroom. There is a lounge and dining room with an indoor braai and fully equipped kitchen, and there is a door leading out from the bedroom into the garden.

The town’s streets are lined with oak trees, particularly on Dundas Street, where they have been declared a national monument. The Old Water Mill, completely restored, is worth a visit; and the Great Fish River Museum is housed in the converted second Dutch Reformed Church and conveys what it was like to live as a settler after 1806, during the second British occupation of the Cape.

We would recommend Agalia to anybody any day. Both Carina and her husband made us feel at home. It feels like we have known them for years, like family. The breakfast was very nice and they went out of their way to accommodate us.

Carina and her hubby are such lovely people. You feel like you've known them for years. The room was lovely. The bed fantastic. We had use of their kitchen and lounge/dining room. A wonderful selection for breakfast as well. I highly recommend Agalia.

I would suggest that the name, Agalia, should be displayed on the outside , on the gate maybe. as the address and location, are confusing i.e. the entrance is not in the street shown as the address but around the corner in a different street.

We enjoyed the position and the breakfast. It is without a tv and not luxury accommodation. Not a single glass or even ice in the room. Not as described.
