Zambia is home to the spectacular Victoria Falls along the Zambezi River, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. It is known locally as the "Smoke that Thunders" due to the masses of spray sent flying up into the air.

The wild Zambezi River is ideal for the adventurous to try white water rafting, canoeing safaris, river surfing, bungi jumping and tiger fishing.

Zambia is known for it's walking safari's, where you can see big game and abundant birdlife in the raw, pulsating wilderness. Almost one-third of the country is made up of national parks and game reserves.

There are many places to see besides the Victoria Falls: Lake Kariba for houseboating excursions, Lake Tanganyika, the Chimp Sanctuary, Shiwa Ngandu - an old colonial manor house that is now a hotel surrounded by a private game reserve and hot springs, Lake Bangweulu, Livingstone Memorial, Lake Mweru which is surrounded by fishing villages, and offers a glimpse at rural village life. There are also numerous monuments, museums and art galleries to visit.

The Zambezi River is an angler’s dream, as fishermen travel from all over the world, hoping to land a toothy tigerfish or the rare, giant vundu. Avid birderwatchers also flock to Zambia to glimpse its fabulous diversity of birds, expecially the Chaplin’s barbets.

Distances between major towns and attractions are large, but for many, this is part of Zambia’s appeal. Feel a part of the real Africa, and take back with you the raw feel of true adventure.
